All sorts of rumors that Stanimir Stoilov is disappointed with the situation in Astana and wants to leave the club have become the main topic of recent months in Kazakhstan football.
12 January, 2018
The main reason for the dissatisfaction of the specialist was that the club management, according to him, did not put out even a single bonus for a year. Neither him, nor his staff, nor any of the players. And this despite the consecutive, a record championship of the capital club. Given the serious interest from other clubs, it seemed the days of Stoilov in Astana are already numbered. However, the parties found a compromise and the Bulgarian specialist extended the contract with the club for 2 years. The news was a late New Year’s gift for the fans of the capital club, who dedicated their adored coach a banner with the inscription Boss.
Let’s see how Stoilov created a story with Astana and why the accomplished tasks are not the limit.
One of the main reasons why Astana beats the records of the country and successfully performs abroad is the transfer policy of the club. Players who Stoilov and his staff found were once “hit in the bull’s eye”. One of the main, of course, is the signing of Nemanja Maksimovic. The midfielder was bought in February 2014 for ridiculous, even by those times standards, 500 thousand Euros, and six months later he became Under 20 World Champion, scoring the winning goal in the final against peers from Brazil. Nemanja was a key player in the capital club and scored, perhaps, the most important goal in the history of Kazakhstan football at the moment. It happened on August 27, 2015, when the Serbian’s goal at 84 minutes of the game against APOEL brought the club from Kazakhstan to the group stage of the Champions League for the first time.
Perhaps the capital club can be blamed for the fact that the Serb should not have been released to Valencia for free. However, the very fact that the player from the KPL went directly to the best league of the world speaks about the incredible progress of our football.
The other day Maksimovic scored his first goal for the “bats”, which are in third place in the championship of Spain and ahead of the winners of the Champions League, Real by 8 points.
However, how skillfully Astana coped with the loss of Nemanja, shows the skill of the club in the transfer market even more. The pair of the Serbian with Roger Cañas in midfield was just exemplary and showed himself worthily in the Champions League. Therefore, when both midfielders were sold, many fans and experts mercilessly criticized this decision.
They were replaced by a new pair of midfielders: Maevski-Kleinheisler. This bundle already surpasses its predecessors in statistical indicators and is generally more balanced, since Ivan is a player of a more destructive plan, and László, before injury, excellently showed himself as a midfielder controlling the pace of the game.
Of course, Junior Kabananga can be called another success in the transfer market. Before coming to Astana the Congolese was the most usual forward from the championship of Belgium, of which there are dozens. However, now, Junior is one of the goals of clubs of decent level, such as West Ham, Leeds and PSV. Also, Kabananga perfectly held the African Cup of Nations in 2017, and even got into a symbolic tournament. Last season was the best in the career of the forward – he has never scored 19 goals in one campaign.
It is also important to note that Astana is doing its “transfer magic” despite the fact that the club has to fight with the sanctions of the financial FAIR PLAY, which allow FC Astana to hire players only for rent or to sign free agents.
The Best Sports Manager by your opinion in 2017 deserves special attention when it comes to the success of Astana. It was he who persuaded Stanimir Stoilov to head the capital team, and certainly had a huge influence on the decision of the specialist to extend the contract with the club.
Khamitzhanov practically flawlessly leads Astana, improving all branches of the club. His mentality and love of football are one of the main reasons why Astana is progressing by leaps and bounds.
“Astana is the soul and heart of our country, my hometown, and the fact that I can benefit the best club of the country is a great honour and responsibility for me. In Astana, using my experience as a manager, I am engaged in the implementation of ideas aimed at reforming the football industry, building a dream club! Our further task is to build a team of European level.”
The club has a glorious future.
What Astana is doing now has jerked at once several levers in the development of Kazakhstan football. Firstly, the capital club banally showed that reaching the Champions League is not a fantasy, but a reality, and this has already opened the eyes of many skeptics and critics who think that there is no place for football in Kazakhstan.
Secondly, the success of Astana at times increased the level of supporters’ attention in the country. Attendance of home matches of Astana in the championship for 2017 has grown more than in 2.6 times in comparison with the previous season. Virtually every European Competitions match of the capital club is sold out. In social media, Astana is absolute leader in the number of subscribers: more than 120,000 followers in Vkontakte and more than 40,000 in Instagram. The Press Service and marketing of the club are at a high level and are improving every day.
Third, the level of children’s football becomes much better. In connection with the success of the capital club both on the domestic and international arena, the competition in the Football Center Astana, where children are accepted from the age of 8, already reaches 12-13 people for position, and football training for children from 3-6 years started to be held in 2016 in Astana, which shows how seriously they are engaged in the development of football in the capital of Kazakhstan. FC Astana can become the center of attraction of the most talented football youth and the most progressive children’s coaches from all over Kazakhstan.
Astana will not stop there.
Right now the Kazakhstan Champions have everything in order to achieve further progress: a great duet of manager and coach, competently working people in the management, a worthy selection of players, a decent fan support gaining popularity with every day.
Stanimir Stoilov introduced the mentality of the winner to Astana and he is not going to stop there:
“I did not hide from the very beginning that my priority was and still is the work in FC Astana. We achieved a lot together over the years, really love our fans, the city and all Kazakhstan, which became my second Homeland, and I hope that we can fight for the honour of our club in the matches with Sporting. Important camps are awaiting and the guys need to get involved in the season without a shakedown and quickly get in shape,” – Stoilov told immediately after signing the new contract.
