Ordabasy vs Astana 1:2
Goals: Joao Paulo – Sigurjonsson – 2
After a pause due to the matches of national teams, FC Astana recommenced the championship with a nominally away match against FC Ordabasy.
Unfortunately, due to injuries, Antonio Rukavina and Zarko Tomasevic were unable to help Paul Ashworth, but Runar Sigurjonsson, Pieros Sotiriu, Uros Radakovic were recovered and Yuriy Logvinenko who replaced the latter, and played his first match since March 2020.
Both teams stayed out of trouble, trying to find the opponent’s weaknesses. The main stake was on shots from outside the penalty area. Maks Ebonh and Luka Simunovic had good shots, but both times the ball went wide. Then, after a cross from wing, Dorin Rotariu had the chance, but again the shot only frightened the goalkeeper of Ordabasy.
By the end of the first half, Tigran Barseghyan entered the pitch, at first he made shot after a solo passage, but Vladimir Plotnikov rescued the team, and then he earned a free kick right on the penalty area. But Sigurjonsson’s shot went above the crossbar.
What the team failed to do in the first half, they succeeded in the second. Once again Barseghyan is on the turf after a clash with a defender – this time a penalty. Runar Mar Sigurjonsson clearly implements the penalty kick.
After 7 minutes, another free kick was scored. Dorin Rotariu moved from the right wing and shot, the crossbar took the shot, Pieros Sotiriu tried to play on finishing, but was knocked down by the goalkeeper – Sigurjonsson’s penalty and 2:0.
The home team managed to win back one goal when Joao Paulo took the ball and shot, the ball went along an incredible trajectory and after touching the crossbar still ended up in the Nenad Eric’s net.
Despite the storming attack of the FC Astana’s goal in the last minutes, the capital team survived and won a very important victory.
